Western Style Dressage Association of Canada

COVID-19

WSDAC has been monitoring the news from our Government, the World Health Organization, other Canadian sport system partners, national and local authorities to help minimize the effects of coronavirus (COVID-19). Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we endeavour to provide the best possible level of service while simultaneously protecting the health and wellbeing of our WSDAC community.
The Board of Directors will remain accessible via phone and email during office hours. A full listing of contact information can be found on our website at http://www.westernstyledressage.ca/.

WSDAC Sanctioned Competitions

For the current list of cancelled/postponed sanctioned competitions, please visit the website.
We are counting on each and every member of our community to make responsible decisions based on the information available, the conditions in your geographic area and the recommendations from your local public health authorities.

Competitors:  Any questions regarding your show should be fielded to your show organizer.

Show Organizers:  Please direct any questions pertaining to your sanctioned show to:   shows@westernstyledressage.ca

All levels of government in Canada have publicly and repeatedly communicated that everyone in the country should be practicing social distancing to reduce their exposure to other people, in other words stay home.

And on a final note, there is a lot we know about horses, but perhaps the best thing about them is that there is so much we don't know. And yet, when we ask something new of them, they keep rising to the occasion, again and again.
Let’s be honest, we don’t know a lot about this virus, but we can also keep rising to the occasion.  We will get through this together.

IMPORTANT UPDATE - JUNE 25TH, 2020

WSDAC has been monitoring the impact of COVID-19 across Canada, as a result of the varying timelines across provinces regarding reopening, there will be a change to this years program and year end.  For any sanctioned shows that do take place this year we will also be gathering points  for the Lifetime Horse Performance Program.

WSDAC is taking into consideration that not all provinces and regions will have the same restrictions across Canada.  We will maintain a level of equal opportunity within our membership.

After long consideration WSDAC has changed this years program to the following;

1) Any accumulation of points, scores, qualification or rankings towards our year end program of 2020 will be merged with         2021 regular season.

2) Any membership renewal that has already been purchased for 2020 will be extended into the entire 2021 season.

3) Any sanctioned show permit fees will be reimbursed if unable to reschedule.

Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.

2021  SHOW SEASON NEWS

COVID-19 has certainly required the Board of Directors to consider the daunting challenges of hosting a live show, if even possible for the upcoming show season of 2021. With consideration to our membership base, we have put together criteria for show organizers to host a virtual show. We are hoping this to be a transition year until we are able to compete together safely.

We have added Virtual Sanctioned Shows, section 16.04 to the 2021 Rulebook. Please take the time to review these changes and additions which are highlighted in red.

The quandary of COVID-19 and the different pandemic protocols across Canada, make achieving a level playing field impossible. WSDAC has decided to merge the existing National Points Program and Lifetime Horse Performance Program with any Virtual Sanctioned Show Points. Both Live and Virtual shows will count for points equally for 2021. This will be re-evaluated after the 2021 show season ends.

WSDAC hopes this brings uplifting news to our valued WSDAC community.
